There were two phases of Art Fiction. Art Fiction Mk. I consisted of Brian Imig (Anu), Donna S. McLaughlin (DSM), Stevo Wolfson (Pupaum), and Travis as the main nucleus from 1986 - 1991. Art Fiction Mk. II lived from Spring 1992 - Autumn 1995. The nucleus was Brian & Jeffrey Gascon, with lots of participation from Travis. This was a time when Travis' band ONO was on hiatus. There was a lot of music written by Jeffrey & Brian, mostly instrumental. This period is captured on the collection "Dawn". Dancers Stacey Honderich and Mark were active participants from the beginning. By the end, Art Fiction had become a full band and performing circus. Rebecca Pavlatos joined in 1994. Andrae Delousier joined that same year on violin. A.J. Vallee joined in 1995, after our one and only gig with Hamid Drake as part of the ensemble. And Travis became fully involved. This full group is represented on the collection "Myrging Mysteries". On the Spring Equinox of 1994 Brian and Jeffrey entered ACME recording studios in Chicago to begin recording the collection "Shadow Play". The sessions were completed on the Summer Solstice. The last piece on the album, "The Big Bang" had been performed a couple of times with Travis on vocal, and the studio recording felt incomplete without his vocal: so we added a vocal from a live performance of a completely different piece 10 years later when Rebecca and I re-sequenced the album and sprinkled a little sonic magic in 2004. In October 1994, Rebecca, Jeffrey & Brian recorded a song at 11 West Studios with Larry Hinds engineering. That piece, "The Gate" is included on "Shadow Play".

‘Art Fiction was an amazing adventure initiated with simple concepts that then developed into an explosion of creative energies driven by a music that was at once inspirational and magical in depth and substance. It was one of those moments in an artist’s life when a coveted convergence, happens effortlessly. Art Fiction was a phenomena that left behind many touched hearts, and with an output that well deserves never be forgotten. I will always be honored to have been an integral part of that experience’
